A Mission for Many.............

Thursday 12/13/07 Neither rain nor sleet nor ice or the holidays shoppers could deter us from our mission this past week. Kathy Price got the word that the 910th Airlift Wing Plans would take eighteen thousand of pounds of aid to Central America on a "Mission Of Love".  All we had to do was get it together.  In order to get it together, it not only takes people with a desire to make a difference with donations of goods and monies, it takes people willing to give of themselves physically and get right in there and just do it.  The warehouse where the Mission of Loves houses thousands of pounds of aid for their humanitarian acts of kindness has no heat, water or electric.  You would never know it though, I never felt better in my life!  Getting to the warehouse through the ice was a chore in and of itself, but when the spirit is willing the possibilities are truely  endless. The sorting and packaging of the goods takes an unbelievable amount of energy and time to prepare. Then the building of pallets with the goods is no easy task as it has to be all tightly wrapped with shrinkwrap so as the Airforce can then transport it to the airbase. There are a two workers at the Arsenal that volunteer to help the loading of the semi, along with the 5 or 6 military who helped load and cover everything with plastic so as not to get ruined from the sleet and iminent weather conditions. The sun did shine down on us briefly as if to thank us for the effort at hand. Saturday 12/15/07  a friend of mine volunteered to bring the trailer full of school supplies from AMS that we filled a few weeks back to the airbase.  We then helped the Airforcers (Tom, Albert, Michael, Randy, Anthony and Bob) unload and palletize the goods. You see after the airforce gets the supplies to the base they  have the arduos task of inspecting and repackaging all the supplies onto stainless steel pallets that are weighed and placed in a cargo plane, which is then deployed on a true mission of love.  There are people wanting to make a difference in this world, and then there are people making a difference in this world.  My longtime friend Chuck helped by being a part of it.  He gave of himself and made a huge impact and I know he will continue to give.  I've learned that if you let things like the weather or time or money stop you from just doing it .  You'll miss out on the feeling in your soul that is inexplicable.  The plane with the cargo will leave today to go help thousands of families in a land far far away.  The feeling of actually being a part of it will stay with me forever.  Take my advice...get off the fence and into the game...you'll never be the same...If you would like to change the world and don't know where to start, give us a call at the Mission of Love....k
