Local Families helping Local Families
A Youngstown man is getting the help he needs after a tragic accident left him paralyzed.
Mission of Love founder Kathy Price arrived at the home of Felix Riveria to let him in on a little surprise. The organization plans to add an addition to his home that's going to make his every day life a bit easier.
"They are within our reach and they're right here in Youngstown," Price said. "It's a great opportunity for us to make a difference in the life of Felix and this family."
Riveria was paralyzed after he injured while riding in a golf cart. The accident left him paralyzed from the neck down.
The blueprints delivered today showcase a handicap accessible addition that includes a first floor bedroom and bath.
"I need the room because I was sleeping upstairs and I can't go upstairs anymore," Riveria said. "I have to stay down."
Construction on the new addition should be complete in about a month. The Riveria's have also received a handicap accessible van from the Mission of Love foundation.
